School Gilwern trip

Firstly we had to get up to the boarding house by 8:15am were we had to be registered and were going to catch the coach, after a hour and 3/4 of card playing and sleeping we got to our destination.
We had already been put into groups and we had to go into our dorms (split into 16 to a dorm)
After having our brief instruction about what going on this trip was for we eventually were told what activities we were doing first.I personally was doing canoeing. Whilst we were getting ready for activitie the fire alarm went off!
We got to the "Canoe room" and were instructed what you were "supposed" to do.We were mixed groups so there was double amount of people!
Ofcourse we just could not stick to our proper instruction! So finally we started getting wet by people slashing and eventually capsizing! The first pair to capsize were Lucy and Jess which I "accidently" pushed!( i didnt mean for them to fall in !!! honest!)
After a lot of people coping capsizing the day unfautuantly ended and some of us were soaking wet and cold!
The second day, our group were set to do climbing which we had to ( or chose to):
Climbing wall (quite/very easy)
Jacobs Ladder( veryhard!)
The Crate Stack(very fun/but quite scary)
Finally (but as it was raining only a limited amount of people were aloud to go as it was raining and thundering!) THE CROWS NEST!
The crows nest was very scary, firstly there was the job of gettin up there! which was ok but you had to move the poles so that your feet to upsh you up.As I was the first up it was extremly scary it was very high and you had nobody for company and there was the burdern of another person walking up and wobiling the post so that you became quite unbalaced! When the 3rd person came up I have to say this person was the hardest! You did have that extra person to grab onto but you also now had a limited amount of spacet o balance on and having a 3rd person on this timy metal plaque was going to be even scarier!
After a triumphal efort of getting the 3rd person up you actually ahd to spread out as far as you can with your hands but I have to say holding other peoples hands for a long time in the rain was not very easy. After finally bringing ourselves to let go of each other we were flying in mid air (but obviously being held by ropes so it was quite safe) were sadly let down. After achiving sucha great achivement it was so much fun that I really wanted to do it agiain, but sadly once another 2 groups had gone we could not as it was eventually starting to thunder and people were getting extremly cold!
On the 3rd and final day my group went caving, this was so much fun that i could not belive i was doing it!
The first part was the easiest but the most scarey! We had to go througha huge but very dark tunnel, but having our little but very affective lights we were very safe and made our way through.
After this we started walking down hill and then finally arriving at a stream and then had to go throught the cave that it was running out of.
Walking maybe 20-50 metres we had to get to start rockclimbing this was quite tricky as it was very wet as there was a water fall only inches away from were you were trying to climb, this was very fun and I would highly recomend it!
After getting only a bit wet we were heading on out way to go and have a filling lunch, we finally set off for our gorge walk. This was definatley the most fun!
We firstly had to get down to the cave and then we had to wait until the other part of the and we really should not have sat down becasue when we got to it and are bums touched the cold hard rock we started to frezze!
We then had to go through frezzing cold water that came over the top of our wellies and then the coldness started to kick in but eventually our body heat in our feet started to warm up the water until I stupidly emptied my boots!
We had a few challages such as :
The Dinosoars back , this is was the hardest i found becasue it was very small and very hard as i got a bit stuck on the last meters because it was very bumby like a back bone!
Then we had to find the end of the cave which when i was the second in the line was quite squeshed and to cossy for my likeing!
Our 3rd task was to do "Donald Duck" this is when you had to get on your back (IN THE WATER) and make your way through, there was only 5 people including me doing this challenge and we got soaked! With this challenge you could go on your back or front my friend Emily and I decided to do it 4 times twice on our backs and twice on our fronts, this in the end was extremly cold!
Now we came to the really tricky bit we had just about been able to get out of the cave but actually walking up the steep hill that we had had gone down before with our wieghed down wellies and our soaking suites to me this was no fun but i'm sure I lost atleast a few calories!
After this exciting activity we got into the bus with great difficulty and finally got back to the centre we had to be hosed down and for some odd reason Emily and a few others including my self decided to stay in our suites whilst being hosed down.Only this was the case but our teacher Miss Taylor decided to aim for our backsides and wellies so that the water could entre and we would get even more wet and cold, but this eventually turned to a water fight and we soon got our revenge!
This was a very exciting day and we had got very wet and cold, but we soon got dry and into a different change of clothes and were ready to set off.
just before leaving we got a finaly de-brief of how and what we thought of the 3 days andi personally think that even though all the people must of got wet at some time we all had a great time!
Only just before leaving this was a very sad moment for Mrs Hardy seeing as this was her last time at Gilwern and she wasn't to sure that she wanted to leave, but then when she finally faced the facts of coming to terms that she may not come again she burst into tears saying goodbye to old friends. But as we didn't want this to be a sad ending for Mrs Hardy we started to cheer and sing as she entred the bus and I hope she has very much enjoyed herself as we will be the last group that she will ever take to Gilwern.
This was a very exciting trip and after getting to school everyone headed either home or back to house to have a nice realxing bath!

Drama Days

The 3 drama days here at Malvern St James have been very exciting. Firstly we started the first day with being able to recognise Elizabethan and many other types of clothing in our "Costume Studies" workshop. After seeing wierd and wonderful costumes, we then arrived at a next workshop which was named "Trestle" with our instrucor Sarah which is meant to be quite famous for its silent masked plays. This to me was a lot of fun and I think all of the group learnt a lot by how to recognise body language. After this fantasice work shop the other group were did a musical theatre performance which was exellent and they sang great songs such as:
Wade in the Water.
Seasons of Love.
After this amazing performance we were set off to burn some calories with our amazing dance teacher Leanne Hollyhead and to learn a dance rutine!
This took us the whole session and we all had a great time.
After this most amazing session we then went to go and see another amazing perfomance which was part of "Playbox" in this performance we were shown how to use frezze frames with minimal or hardly any talking.
A tiering and exhausting day it may have been and we were all quite tierd but in return we all had a fantastic time!
This is first and last chance to do these past "Drama Days" and i thoroughly enjoyed it and i'm sure all the years that it will still be occupied everybody else will as well!
